Luis Enrique ended his time as Barcelona boss with a 3-1 Copa del Rey final win against Deportivo Alaves at the Vicente Calderon on Saturday.
- Barcelona 3 Deportivo Alaves 1
- Messi on target on 30′
- Hernandez levels on 33′
- Neymar with Barca second on 45′
- Paco Alcacer nets in first-half stoppage time
Lionel Messi kicked off procedings with a 30th minute goal before Theo Hernandez expertly levelled just three minutes later. Neymar though restored Barcelona’s lead before Paco Alcacer secured the win with his goal three minutes into first-half stoppage time.
Messi split the Alaves defence with a superb pass on seven minutes to feed Jordi Alba at the back post, but he just failed to pick out Paco Alcacer with his header back across the goal.
The early stages were quite open as Gerard Pique cleared a Kiko cross as a Messi curling effort was blocked en route to heading into the top corner of the net.
Jasper Cillessen saw an Ibai Gomez shot from 25 yards squirm through his hands before hitting the base of the left post as Fernando Pacheco did well to stop a deflected Andres Iniesta shot with his feet.
Messi though, who had pretty much pulling the strings for Barcelona up to that point, opened the scoring on the half hour when he played a one-two with Neymar on the edge of the box before placing his shot effortlessly into the goal.
Hernandez though drew Alaves back level just three minutes later with a stunning strike, from a set-piece from the right into the far top corner.
Barca didn’t take too kindly to conceding, so they duly went up the other end to retake the lead, through Neymar on the stroke of half time.
