The death of 23 year-old Bathisda Manyisa after he fell into a trench and drowned in Extension 10 has left the two major parties pointing fingers at each other.
Manyisa slipped and fell into the trench on Sunday, and many of the individuals who spoke to Pretoria News on Monday pointed fingers at the city of Tshwane for not completing the stormwater drainage system for which the trench was meant.
The ANC took this opportunity to fire some shots at the ruling DA leadership body. Accusing them of not paying the contractor and thus causing the project to be abandoned.
“It is extremely disingenuous for the ANC to blame the new DA administration for the trench.” – Samkelo Mgobozi, Mayoral Spokesperson
Samkelo Mgobozi, the mayoral spokesperon for Tshwane has revealed that the project was stopped six months ago and as such would have been under the tenure of the former ANC Mayor, Kgosientso Ramokgopa.
