Playing in front of their own fans, Chiefs settled the quicker of the two sides and Parker had a decent early chance blocked by the Free State defence.

Their supporters did not need to wait long for a breakthrough either, with Tshabalala making the most of a free kick just outside the box, striking the ball ever so sweetly into the back of the net 17 minutes into the match.

Thirteen minutes later, the visitors gifted the hosts a chance to double their lead when Edmore Chirambadare was brought down by Thela Ngobeni in the box.

Parker was the man entrusted with the spot kick and even though his first attempt was saved, he followed up well to punishing Ngobeni for his transgression and put his side 2-0 up.

After the break, Katsande effectively killed off the match as a contest, when he reacted quickest to a rebound of his own initial shot to pick the ball up, beat a couple of defenders and finish neatly to make it 3-0.
