Al Ahly keen on Mahlambi deal

Al Aly are working towards making Bidvest Wits attacker Phakamani Mahlambi the first South African to ply their trade in Egypt.

The Egyptian Champions have launched an ambitious bid for the teenager who’s attracted interest Benfica and Galatasaray as well as African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, since the transfer window has now shut in the South African top-flight – the Red Devils are the only side still able to lure the teenager away from the Students.

“Al Ahly are trying to sign one more foreign player after the EFA agreed to increase the foreign players per team to four instead of three,” Egyptian publication KingFut reported.

“The Reds are expected to strengthen before the deadline day on the 14th of September as they will be looking forward to retaining the domestic double next season as well as winning their first continental trophy since 2014.”
