Ajax announce star-studded technical team

Ajax Cape Town has revealed a major technical team reshuffle ahead of the next Premiership campaign with a mixture of major local and European experience.

Former Bloemfontein Celtic head coach Mich d’Avray will take up the role of Director of Football and bring a wealth of experience having played for Ipswich and Leicester City – as well as coaching stints at Australian side Perth Glory.

Head coach Stanley Menzo will have a new assistant in former Santos head coach Boebie Solomons, who holds extensive local football knowledge from close to two decades of coaching in South Africa.

Furthermore, former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Hans Vonk has been appointed Head of Youth Development and legendary Dutchman Foppe De Haan will assist the former Urban Warrior within the development structures.

And after the departure of Vladislav Heric, Duncan Crowie has been rewarded with the role of head coach for the Young Ajax team who participate in the ABC Motsepe League, along with the MultiChoice Diski Challenge squad.

Crowie’s impressive results with the U19 side over the past 12 months has been recognised by the hierarchy of the Ikamva-based club and subsequently handed the reins over to the ambitious coach.

“It was always our vision to bring this quality technical team together and if we look at this team in terms of a number of years of experience – different leagues and country’s,” Ajax CEO Ari Efstathiou told the club’s website.

“We have a selection of widespread views and opinions, a fantastic bunch of personalities to lead this club to success.”
