Mamelodi Sundowns appear to have a historical advantage over Free State Stars ahead of Sunday’s Premiership clash with a massive 24 goals to six scored in the last seven fixtures between the two teams.
In addition, Ea Lla Koto are fresh off two defeats in a row to Orlando Pirates and Baroka in the league and cup and seem to have the odds stacked against them.
However, Sundowns are struggling with a raft of injuries to key performers and in football it is never advisable to discount the underdog especially with Stars fighting for their lives against relegation.
Nonetheless, Downs seem to be in confident mood as the club’s official website pointed out the recent advantage they hold over Stars. A statement read, “History is against Stars, but they will hope that their leading striker Moeketsi Sekola, will bring his scoring boots along.
“Sundowns have beaten them 2-1, 2-0, 2-0, 6-1, 3-1, 5-2, and 4-1 in their last seven clashes, and will want to add to the 46 goals they have scored against Stars.”
Sunday’s encounter takes place at the James Motlatsi Stadium in Orkney. The action gets underway from 15:00.
