In 2007 The Pirate Bay endeavoured to buy Sealand as they were searching for an approach to escape copyright laws. Later it was offered available to be purchased for US$900 million.
In 1987, the UK broadened its territorial waters from 6 to 22 km and now Sealand is inside British waters. The UK is a piece of the United Nation Convention of the Law of the Sea which expresses that counterfeit islands don’t have the status of islands. Therefore, Sealand can’t be perceived as a nation as it is a human-made structure.
